ProAg has an exciting opportunity for a VP of Underwriting – Agriculture to join our team.
Bring your passion for underwriting and operational excellence to ProAg where you’ll be responsible for the underwriting staff’s strategic alignment and ensure profitability for the company in new and existing business.
This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
In This Exciting Opportunity You Will:
Thought Leadership - Provide profit driven thought leadership to the ProAg’s Agriculture business on sales trends, opportunities, and risks.
Advise and Consult – Collaborate with Sales and Actuarial to enhance risk targeting and selection, as well as optimize portfolio risks.
Operational Excellence - Establish and maintain specialty portfolio best practices across ProAg’s Agriculture product lines.
Lead underwriting process improvements and modernization, underwriting guideline enhancements, training and referrals as needed.
Talent Development – Coaches, leads and develops underwriters and participates in the development of underwriting training, underwriting guidelines and best practices.
Responsible for the supervision of the Underwriting Department’s interpretation and application of provisions of insurance policies and applicable procedure.
What You’ll Bring:
8-10 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience.
6+ years of leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Economics or related field.
Advanced technical expertise and knowledge in the insurance field, with underwriting experience in property and casualty lines of business, and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas.
