Summary
The VP of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the functions of the Human Resource department and developing and implementing strategic HR policies to support ECU’s mission and strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversees all function of the human resource department Reviews employee handbook and ECU policies and suggests changes to keep them accurate and up to date.
Ensures consistent application of employee policies, performance reviews, disciplinary measures, and employer record-keeping.
Works with Senior Management to regularly evaluate employee benefit programs and suggests changes where appropriate.
Maintains current knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations and ensures credit union compliance.
Acts as a point of contact for employee job-related complaints, working with employee supervisor to resolve or referring to senior management as appropriate.
Oversees the credit unions 401K plan, attending committee meetings when necessary Develops and maintains employee relations and correspondence to employees regarding policies, procedures and benefits.
Prepares annual salary adjustments, salary ranges, and variable pay yearly Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and guidelines Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
Maintains confidentiality in all areas of work responsibility Supervisory Responsibilities Maintains a smoothly functioning department that demonstrates compliance with standards set by regulators and senior management.
Maintains a highly motivated, well-trained work staff.
Encourages and develops cooperation among staff members to ensure a "team effort' and prompt member service.
Promotes and maintains a positive image of the credit union to assigned personnel, members, and the community.
Develops, applies and evaluates policies and procedures for the department to maximize efficiency and quality of work and consistent high-quality service to the members.
Attempts to obtain maximum utilization of staff by clearly defining their duties, establishing performance standards, coaching and training, and conducting performance reviews with improvement and/or development objectives.
Holds periodic staff meetings to discuss areas needing improvement, changes in procedures, new developments or services, and to present general information.
Manages and recommends the purchase of equipment and supplies.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems General Duties and Responsibilities General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintains ongoing communications with Management, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within area of responsibility.
Cooperates with other department personnel to ensure a "team effort" and prompt member service.
Promotes and maintains a positive image of the credit union to assigned personnel, members, and the community.
Follows safety and security rules and regulations.
Ensures that all information and transactions regarding credit union operations and members are kept confidential.
Maintains the security of the work area and keeps it organized and neat in appearance.
Maintains current knowledge of credit union philosophy, plus all credit union services and policies.
Cross-sells credit union products and services.
Participates in continuing education as approved by Senior Management.
Maintains a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors.
Protects and respects credit union equipment and supplies.
Attends meetings as required.
Adheres to ECU Employee Personnel Policy and Guidelines Handbook.
Promotes and maintains a positive image of ECU to members and the community.
Performs other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
Knowledge and Experience Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree in human resources; or 5 years of relative experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience SHRM-CP or SHRM SCP preferred Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
