The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Management helps manages all functions of the organizations billing and revenue cycle to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external customer relations.
Supports, maintains, manages, and monitors the revenue cycle activities for the physician practice including Charge Capture, Claim Production, and Denial Management.
The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Management assures all established billing, systems, and workflow requirements have been met in order to ensure an efficient and streamlined revenue cycle.
Responsible for the coordination of these efforts together with site personnel to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
The Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Management works to implement leading practices and operations that will positively impact the Revenue Cycle and help the Central Business Office operate according to industry benchmarks.
In addition, the Manager will work to ensure policies and procedures are followed in the multiple clinic locations.
Position Overview: Oversees the billing team that manages accounts, communications with insurance, collections, contract analysis, cash posting, billing transactions of clients, and report creation.
Establishes and monitors standards for controlling the integrity of data throughout the revenue cycle.
Creates and ensures consistent implementation of revenue management policies and procedures.
Facilitates communications and provides direction to executive leadership team, and external providers on reimbursement, compliance, credentialing, billing systems, and issues involving revenue cycle management.
Identifies revenue cycle problems with billing related to patients and/or insurance and implements solutions for improvement.
Corrects and resubmits claims in a timely manner to ensure payment.
Identifies denied payment trends by insurance companies to implement practices to prevent future denials.
Provides analysis, reporting, recommendations, and implementation of goals and objectives for revenue cycle services.
Continually seeks ways for improving the support and outcomes of revenue cycle activities and programs including the development of training material and cross-training of staff.
Acts as electronic practice administrator handling the proper entry and monitoring of payer contracts.
Adheres to approved budget and set agency financial goals by maintaining efficient practices within assigned departments.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing patient services and reimbursement.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Education Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration or a related field required.
Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in a leadership role in billing for a multi-clinic practice.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of third-party billing, contractual and compliance regulations, reimbursement, and insurance-related requirements Knowledge of how Medicaid works and the Medicaid system Thorough knowledge of Medicare Fraud and Abuse regulations as well as HIPAA regulations.
Ability to effectively build, lead and supervise a team of employees Ability to apply complex analysis and interpretation in order to assess issues involved in the financial and technical aspects of medical practice revenue management, including coding, billing, reimbursement and collections metrics, policies and procedures.
Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD9, and ICD-10 coding required Experienced biller with prior authorization and Medicaid managed care experience Ability to analyze processes to identify areas in need of improvement and implement process changes Effective, clear, and persuasive oral and written communication skills with all levels of stakeholders Ability to analyze data and present findings Computer proficiency in Windows operation system (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Experienced in a variety of electronic health record software programs Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) is a plus
