JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under the guidance and direction of the IT Director, the Senior Network and Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the security of our systems and data, as well as manage, troubleshoot, and maintain our network and systems infrastructure.
The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgement and self-motivate in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects and tasks.
At times, this position requires the individual to work under tight deadlines and manage a variety of IT related activities and confidential matters with discretion.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Functions:
As an IT Network and Systems Engineer, you will assist in the following activities:
Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain our servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
Install, configure, and upgrade hardware and software.
Ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of our IT infrastructure.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to users and staff on security and IT issues.
Maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Monitor and protect our IT infrastructure from cyberattacks, unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, tools, and best practices.
Perform regular security audits, assessments, and tests to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
Respond to and investigate security incidents and events.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assume other assigned activities and responsibilities from time to time as requested.
Adhere to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field and/or at least 3 years of experience in IT security or systems administration or related role.
Experience:
To be considered for this position, ideal candidate should have:
Knowledge of security standards, frameworks, and best practices such as ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS.
Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as antivirus, firewall, encryption, VPN, SIEM, and IDS/IPS.
Familiarity with network and systems administration, including Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms (Azure).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or CompTIA Network+ are preferred.
Additional Work Conditions:
On-call availability.
Some overtime may be required.
Some travel may be required for the purpose of off-site software installation.
